Ninth Annual Chuck Seigfreid Battle Of The Sexes

The Ninth Annual Chuck Seigfreid Battle of the Sexes was contested under near perfect weather conditions on Sunday, December 8, at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club. This battle was also the 26th overall.

Teams of 20 women and 20 men played 10 match-play events with one point awarded for every hole won. After all 10 match results were tallied the women had earned bragging rights by a stunning 62 to 49 margin. The victory marked the 14th win for the women and the largest margin of victory in recent history. The men remained at 12 wins.

Individual winners included Dawn Kinghorn (3), Tom Shearer, Rich Dietrich, Julie Munderloh, Pete Baker, and Steve Crowley for being “closest to the pin,” on the par-3s.

“Closest to the line” winners were Kathy Furlong and Roy Mikkelsen, and the “longest putt” prizes went to Cindie Acker and Rob Sanders. The fewest putts award resulted in a five-way tie at 30, the winners being Sandi Melillo, Mike Heil, Jill Burchill, Cindie Acker, and Karen Kudrle.

After all 10 match results were tallied the women had earned bragging rights by a stunning 62 to 49 margin.

The event was sponsored by Jim/Karen Kudrle, Ron/Marylee Bertram, Jim/Phyllis Waco, Pete/ Barb Baker, Steve Crowley and Pat Romano, Cindie Acker, Alan/ Jill Burchill, George/Michele Cushing, Rich/Kitty Dietrich, Steve/Nina Duke, Jim/Nancy Gambaiani, Mike/Betty Heil, Dawn Kinghorn, Greg/Pat Koniecki, Joe/Lynn Mikan, Lloyd/ Gail Tardif, Roy/Caryn Mikkelsen, Rob Sanders/Pam Nordin, David Seigfreid, Tom/Sue Shearer, Bonnie Soltesz, and Gary/Sandi Melillo. Dave Neseman rebuilt and enlarged the Battle of the Sexes trophy to provide more room to recognize future winners.
The battle was organized by Kathy Furlong and Mike Monserez. The evening concluded with a prime rib awards dinner at the Cross Creek Restaurant.

Caryn Mikkelsen provided golf- themed centerpieces for the event.
